Tactical Sub-Machine Gun Class

Duration: 3 days

Venue: Classroom and range

Prerequisite:  Active law enforcement, military or authorized security professionals

Required equipment: Sub-machine gun (9mm, 10mm, .40 or .45 caliber), sling, 4 magazines.  Semi-automatic pistol, strong side hip holster, 4 magazines, magazine pouch (worn on support side), 2,500 rounds of ammunition (sub-machine gun) and 150 rounds of ammunition for pistol.

 This is a developmental course and will cover the fundamentals of sub-machine gun use.  Topics will include:

• Firearms safety
• Weapon description (nomenclature and operation)
• Breakdown, assembly & maintenance
• Loading / unloading
• Sight alignment & sight picture
• Stance
• Trigger control
• Slinging the weapon
• Comparative analysis (pros and cons) of different forend grip techniques
• Ready gun positions
• Basic shooting drills
• Reloading drills
• Semi-automatic fire
• Controlling fully automatic fire
• Multiple targets
• Moving with the sub-machine gun
• Shooting on the move
• Barricade shooting
• Low-light shooting
• Clearing malfunctions
• Transition to handgun
