Armed guards must complete an Annual eight (8) Hour Firearms Training course which includes three (3) hours of classroom refresher on the Use of Force followed by a written examination, and five (5) hours of weapons qualification which includes a proficiency examination. The guard must complete this course as a prerequisite for renewal of his or her armed guard registration. The cost includes the range fee but not ammunition. Shooters must qualify with the weapon on their license. A strong side holster is required and either spare magazines or speed loaders depending upon the weapon.
